my current work focuses on two joined themes: beasts of burden and the latin alphabet.
in our daily lives we are bombarded with letters and numbers formed into words and values. these can carry great emotional weight—conveying pleasure and joy, benign information, or hate and derision. everyone and everything has a label; but at the end of the day, these are just fonts and figures, and if i break it down even further, just shapes onto which we have assigned worth.
somewhere there is a world filled with beasts whose sole duty is to shoulder the burden of these jumbled words. everyone has a beast—some are heavily burdened while others carry lighter loads.
choose your words (and letters!) wisely.
many artists sketch out their ideas or have a plan in mind before they start creating. i just start making, letting the clay dictate what it wants to be, whether that's a cup, or bowl, or beast. since my pieces are all hand formed and carry unique imperfections that, to me, only enhances its presence, you will always own a one of a kind original.
my desire is once you receive a piece, you'll treasure it for a lifetime. then gift it, or hand it down to someone to do the same.
take care, be well, and thank you for the support 🤎
