my current work focuses on two joined themes: beasts of burden and the latin alphabet.
a beast of burden is a mythical creature who, silently and stoically, helps humans carry their burdens contained in a loadstone.
a loadstone is formed by gathering burdens; those you shoulder willingly, or those which were cast upon you. on the outside, burdens are symbolically represented by letters or numbers, of which, only the bearer knows the true meaning.
burdens carried with grace turn them from mere weight into sources of strength, resilience, and a deeper sense of purpose.
choose your letters wisely!
most of the time i sit down, grab a handful of clay and start molding with no clear direction; letting the clay dictate what it wants to be; a cup, or bowl, or beast.
they carry their handmade imperfections perfectly; like a freckle or birthmark, they add color and depth to their presence.
my desire is that once you receive a piece, you'll treasure it for a lifetime, then hand it down to someone to do the same.
